Could you please give us any information you may have regarding this chair. It is in good shape; only one small tear on the seat.

If interested, please contact Catherine Hughes, chughes@atlantahistorycenter.com. or call 404-814-2056. Thank you.

  17. Hi, enjoyed your site. I’m wondering why E.Berninghaus Barber chairs are not listed on your site. Although Koker was the first to add hydraulics to barber chairs, technically, Berninghaus was the first barber chair manufacturer to produce barber chairs in the USA in 1872. The company closed in 1938. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Gary

  20. I have a vintage barbers chair. I cannot find any identification as to what it is except for the foot plate. The foot plate has the name of “Paris Hair Co. Los Angels, Ca.” on it. The foot plate may not be original because the chair looks very similar to one with the name of Emil J Paidar that I had seen on the internet. Is there anyway you can help me indentify the make and model of this chair? I would like to restore it. Pictures are available.

I also would like to determine the approximate value for insurance purposes. it has the child’s seat and tissue dispenser. The leather has been replaced but the wood has not been refinished. The hydraulics don’t work, probably a bad seal.
    Thank you.

  29. I would like advice on how to best advertise a beautiful antique Louis Hanson oak hydraulic barber chair for sale. Beautifully done in a red/burgundy diamond tufted velvet. The chair is fully functional: revolving 360; elevates and descends; and reclines. I have not personally seen another chair as nice as this one, in person or online. Suggestions on sales price and how to advertise or referrals to other parties would be appreciated. I will use the sale proceeds to pay a portion of my graduate/seminary expenses at Moody.
